Background: The Federation of Chinese
Scholars in Australia (FOCSA) is a consortium of twelve Chinese professional
associations in Australia. One of its objectives is to promote and further
bilateral links and cooperation between Australia and China in science,
technology, engineering services and education. The 3rd Australia-China Joint
Symposium will be held at Melbourne Convention Centre, Melbourne on 6th-8th
October 2010 aiming to bring together about 300 participants among whom many
are eminent experts and scholars from both Australia and China.
Aims: The aims of the third Symposium are:
- To further the bilateral understanding of some highly important issues
concerning both countries
- To facilitate more fruitful collaboration and cooperation in all disciplines
of science, technology and education between Australia and China, by providing
a forum for exchange of ideas and networking among representatives from
governments, academia, industrial and research organizations, and
- To report and review the latest developments and progresses in the areas of
interest through the invited keynote addresses and selected presentations.
Scope: The symposium will focus on some of
the strategic topics of interest to both countries, such as technology
commercialisation, clean coal technology, renewable energy, climate change
response and mitigation, and future education.
Conference format and Program tracks: In addition to these key topics
that will be scheduled in the plenary sessions or keynote addresses, the
symposium will also cover a series of oral presentations or posters in the
following areas (which will also be used as the program tracks):

Call for papers:
The official language of the conference is English. Interested participants
are welcome to submit extended abstracts related to
any of the above areas through the web submission system or the Symposium
Local Organizing Committee via email: focsa.au@gmail.com by COB 2nd July
