2009 FOCSA Forum on Advanced Technology

Background: The Federation of Chinese Scholars in Australia (FOCSA) is a consortium of twelve Chinese professional associations in Australia. This special forum is to provide a networking platform to promote cooperation among research groups and individuals in science, technology and engineering. This forum will be held at Gold Coast in November 2009 aiming to bring together about100 participants among whom many are eminent experts and scholars in Australia.

Aims:

To report and review the latest developments and progresses in the areas of interest through the invited keynote addresses and selected presentations.

To facilitate more fruitful collaboration and cooperation in all disciplines of science and technology in Australia, by providing a forum for exchange of ideas and networking among representatives from governments, academia, industrial and research organizations.

Scope: The forum will focus on a number of important topics, such as nanotechnology, bioengineering, renewable energy, clean coal technology, information technology and technology commercialisation.

Conference Program Arrangement: In addition to these key topics that will be scheduled in the plenary sessions or keynote addresses, the forum will also cover a series of oral presentations or posters in the following areas:
 
 
Biomedical and Health Sciences  
  Information and Communication Technology
  Nanomaterials and nanotechnology
  Physical Science and Engineering (including environmental and mining)


Call for papers: The official language of the conference is English. Interested participants are welcome to submit abstracts ( within 300 words) related to any of the above areas to the Forum Local Organizing Committee Secretary-General Dr Shanqing Zhang via email:
s.zhang@griffith.edu.au 
by COB 30 September 2009 (to be included in the Forum Proceedings).

The Organising Committee will produce a forum Proceedings including all accepted papers and posters.

Registration Fees:
Early bird registration before 30 September 2009: AUD$400 (AUD$200 for Students).
Normal registration until conference date: AUD$500 (AUD$250 for students).

Registration fees include a copy of Forum Proceedings, Morning and Afternoon Teas, Hot Buffet Lunch for two days during the Forum, and formal conference dinner on 27
th Nov 2009. Fees can be paid by Cheque, Money Order, Credit card and Bank Transfer. Please refer to the registration form for payment information.
